RNG Meter Guide

TrappedMC has rare item drops such as GPUs, Bosses, Chambers, Fishing Nets, etc. You can find these drops by doing various activities on the server, such as fishing, mining, or farming. The RNG meter is designed as a pity system, intended primarily to kick in and assist you after you are deemed unlucky. This page will take you through the RNG meter for a special "Rare Drop" to explain how the meter functions.

All drops have a natural drop rate; in this case, our Rare Drop has a natural drop rate of 1 / 100,000
or 0.0000001%
. This drop is triggered by mining, meaning that every block you break has a 1 / 100,000
chance of giving you the item. At one
block broken, your odds of getting the Rare Drop are 1 / 100,000
; at 50,000
blocks broken, your odds are still 1 / 100,000
; and at 99,999
blocks broken, your odds still are 1 / 100,000
.

When you reach the expected natural progress (in this case, blocks broken referred to here as "target") for the Rare Drop, at that point, the RNG Meter kicks in and starts to help you out. At first, the meter helps a little, and eventually, it helps at an increasing rate. In the administrator view visible in the screenshots below, the "boost" shows the drop rate that players experience with assistance provided. So, at 110,000
blocks mined in this case, the player's assisted rate of finding the Rare Drop is 1 / 82,509
instead of the natural rate of 1 / 100,000
. The "Final Roll Odds" will include RNG boosts from Outposts, Pets, etc.

Different drops have different rates of assistance; for instance, a fishing drop typically increases at a higher rate than a mining drop since players make less progress due to slower rates. The left image shows a less aggressive boost while the right shows a higher rate of assistance (boost).

When the meter shows maximum assistance, your boosted drop rate will still increase until you are guaranteed to find the drop. Our Rare Drop, at 500,000
blocks mined, has a drop chance of 1 / 7,937
even though the meter essentially showed maximum assistance at 200,000
blocks mined with a drop rate of 1 / 66,253
.

RNG Boost events and enchantments (such as surge and momentum) grant additional progress toward drops in the RNG meter.
An important consideration here with the example shown is that we specially created the rates and algorithm for this page, and they do not indicate actual boosted rate calculations.
